About Lucy
Sometimes life asks more of you than you feel able to give.
Maybe you’ve lost someone and the grief is bigger and stranger than you expected.
Maybe something has shifted - a relationship, a job, a sense of who you are and you don't quite recognise yourself. You've been holding it together for so long that you’ve forgotten what it felt like not to.

Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to keep managing it alone.

I’m Lucy Bello, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with individuals and couples navigating grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, life transitions, adoption, anxiety, professional stress, and the kind of losses that don’t always have a name.

My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and shaped around you. There are no scripts, no quick fixes, and no pressure to have it all figured out.

I’m a registered member of the BACP and serve on the BACP Expert Reference Group, contributing to a competency framework for counselling adults affected by adoption. Alongside my private practice, I have volunteered with Young Minds, The Prince’s Trust, and The Mulberry Centre, supporting people through bereavement, cancer, and significant life challenges.

All sessions take place online via Zoom, which means wherever you are in the UK, you can access support without the added pressure of travel or waiting rooms.
If you’re ready to take a first step, I’d be glad to hear from you.
1.
Stress, Anxiety & Depression
Stress, anxiety and depression can creep into every part of life, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or like you’re failing at something everyone else seems to manage fine.

You might be caught in constant worry, feeling flat or numb, or struggling to keep going even when everything looks “fine” from the outside.

In our sessions, I offer a calm, non-judgemental space to explore what’s going on for you. Together, we’ll look at what might be driving these feelings and develop practical ways to feel more grounded.
2.
Bereavement, Grief & Loss
Grief can follow
many kinds of loss: the death of
someone close, the end of a relationship, estrangement, a diagnosis, or the future you thought you would have.

You might feel overwhelmed, guilty, stuck, or unsure whether you’re grieving correctly. It can feel incredibly lonely. Especially if you allow the people around you to tell
you how you should be feeling.

In our sessions, you can bring your loss exactly as it is, without pressure to be okay or pressure to move on.

3.
Relationships
& Couples
Therapy
Relationships can be a huge source of support. They can also feel stuck, painful, or confusing in ways that are hard to put into words.

You might notice the same arguments playing out again and again, struggle to feel heard, or find it hard to say what you actually need.

In individual therapy, we can explore the patterns in your relationships and where they may have come from.
In couples therapy, the focus is on what happens between you when things feel difficult, and finding new ways of talking and listening so that challenges feel more manageable together.
4.
Life Transitions &
Professional Pressures
Redundancy, retirement, career shifts, or stepping into a caring role can leave you feeling unmoored and unsure of who you now are.
For many professionals, there is also the particular weight of emotionally demanding work that requires discretion.
Family lawyers, those in financial services, and senior executives often carry more than most people realise.
Therapy offers a confidential space to explore what these changes mean, and to begin making choices that feel more authentic and grounded.
5.
Adult Adoptees & Adoption
Experiences
Adoption can shape
identity and relationships
in deep, often
lifelong ways.

You might be living with questions about who you are. Feelings of rejection.
Not quite belonging.
Navigating search, reunion, or the adjustments that
follow.

These experiences can be hard to put into words, especially when others expect you to see
adoption as only a positive story.

In our work together, there is space to explore your adoption story at your own pace, make sense of how it affects you now, and build a steadier, more
compassionate sense of self.
My Approach
In our sessions, the focus is on what feels most helpful for you right now. That might be understanding patterns from the past, making sense of current challenges, or finding practical ways forward. I use an integrative approach, drawing on psychodynamic therapy, ACT, CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused ideas. We shape the work to fit you, not the other way around.

For many people, a critical inner voice plays a significant role. That familiar voice that questions your worth, points out your mistakes, or quietly tells you that you’re not good enough. Together, we’ll learn to notice that voice, explore where it may have come from, and develop kinder, more honest ways of relating to yourself. This is often central to building real confidence and self-compassion.

Depending on what brings you to counselling, we might explore self-esteem, attachment, cultural identity, trauma, or life transitions. I work with clients from many different backgrounds and aim to offer a space that feels open, unpressured, and genuinely useful.

My style is warm, down-to-earth, and non-judgemental. Therapy also needs to feel practical, so alongside reflection, I’ll often offer tools and ideas you can try between sessions. You set the agenda. Together, we’ll work towards the changes that matter most to you. All sessions are confidential.

Benefits of Remote Counselling
Remote counselling can make therapy easier to access, more flexible, and more comfortable, wherever you are. You can join from home, work, or any private space (even your car) without the stress of travel or finding extra time in your day.

Many people find that being in their own environment actually makes it easier to talk openly. There’s no waiting room, no commute home to manage afterwards, and no getting stuck in traffic. Just a regular time set aside for you.

This can be especially helpful if you have caring responsibilities, a demanding job, or an unpredictable schedule. And if life takes you somewhere different for a while, your sessions can continue without interruption.

Remote counselling isn’t right for everyone, but for many people it’s a practical, flexible way to access support. If you’re unsure, we can talk together about what might work best for you.
